If you’re suffering from lower back pain, whether it’s acute or chronic, the earlier you start treatment with our exercise physiologist, the better the outcome. Based at our Dulwich Hill clinic, we’ll customise your treatment to suit your specific needs and long-term goals.

Our exercise physiologist focuses on identifying the underlying causes of your lower back pain and uses targeted exercises to improve the mobility, strength, flexibility, and control in your spine and hips. Your lower back pain treatment may include:

  • Core and hip strengthening.
  • Posture and movement retraining.
  • Gradual return-to-work or sport programs.
  • Flexibility and mobility exercises.
  • Load management strategies.

Exercise-Based Treatment for Gym-Related Lower Back Pain

Our exercise physiologist sees many clients with gym-related lower back pain at our Dulwich Hill clinic, often due to poor lifting technique, high training loads, or inadequate recovery times. Your treatment plan includes a full review of your training habits so we can help you safely return to the gym with better control and a reduced risk of re-injury.

Helping You Recover From Work-Related Lower Back Pain

Work-related lower back pain can develop from repetitive lifting, prolonged sitting, awkward postures, or physically demanding tasks. The exercise physiologist for lower back pain at our Dulwich Hill clinic helps many WorkCover patients improve their strength, movements, and function, preparing them for a safe return to work.

Exercise Physiology for Chronic Lower Back Pain Management (GPccMP)

Chronic lower back pain can be frustrating when symptoms persist for months or seem to resolve, only to return repeatedly. Under a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPccMP), exercise physiology can be part of a broader treatment approach aimed at reducing pain, improving function, and enhancing your quality of life.

You Don’t Always Need a Scan or Referral Before Starting Treatment

In most cases, you don’t need a scan before starting your lower back pain treatment at our Dulwich Hill clinic. Sometimes, however, your exercise physiologist may decide that imaging is appropriate, given your condition and injury history. You also don’t usually need a referral to see an exercise physiologist privately at our clinic. However, referrals may be required for WorkCover, Medicare-funded GPccMP programs, or some private health arrangements.
